Burton Studio worked alongside Pei Cobb Freed & Partners to provide planning and site design services for this 20-story office tower at the Irvine Company headquarters property in Newport Beach, California. The Studio guided the placement of the new tower and two associated parking structures. Subsequently, Burton developed a detailed site design, which addressed challenging geometric constraints resulting from the combination of the new buildings with existing architecture. The site plan honors the architectural character of the surrounding office district while also incorporating informal outdoor meeting and dining spaces within the overall formal landscape framework. Palm groves give a sense of structure to the plaza spaces around the tower and a large reflecting pool punctuates the main garden courtyard.
