Four Seasons Bora Bora

Burton Studio joined with two architectural teams, one for the over-water bungalows and another for the creation of a private motu (island), to meet the challenge of redefining the quintessential South Seas escape. The result was the creation of a private oasis representative of the local culture and customs in this tropical locale. The team created a single navigable pass to the crystal clear lagoon and sited the resort against the majestic backdrop of Mount Otemanu and Mount Pahia. The Burton team engaged in extensive research and partnered with local museums to integrate indigenous motifs and design elements into the project. Simplicity was a constant focus, allowing the serene isolation of the site to dictate the design mission.
